Yes, there is a lot of it in Korea. And they use the media to cover up their scandals. Yes, there ARE problems.
But all you “fans” saying you hate Korea, or you were going to visit but are now reconsidering, or whatever, please take a look at your own government, no matter which one it is. It is also, in some way, completely full of corruption and does many horrible things. If you think otherwise, you are ignorant. This knee-jerk reaction to just insult Korea is tiresome.
I’m not excusing anything the Korean government is doing. A lot of things bother me a LOT. But I think in context of how young this government is, it’s got a lot to be proud of. Additionally, I see good changes happen rather rapidly. No it’s not perfect, but in many ways I find it more progressive (as in, progress gets made) than that of my home country, the United States. And trust me, people are ready to toss LMB’s butt out of office with the next election. He is not well-loved, so it’s not like Koreans don’t care about the corruption that exists.
But regardless, so many of the comments I’m seeing from foreign JYJ fans are SO ridiculous.
Edited to add: There are a few JYJ fans who I see commenting frequently who have taken a few minutes to learn something about Korea from sources besides “omonatheydidnt” and their ilk I find these fans’ comments worth reading and their opinions to be based on a level of perception that transcends most of the typical comments I see. These are people I’d enjoy having a conversation with, because I love to learn and share ideas (but I’m not going to comment at JYJ3 any more…too many people there are too defensive and too emotional). ^_^ I’m so glad to find some fans like that!
